About Us

Literacy means more than being able to read; it’s about understanding and applying language correctly, enriching our lives at home, at work and in the community.

At the Literacy Center of West Michigan (formerly known as the Kent County Literacy Council), we are committed to helping West Michigan residents reach their literacy potential, opening the door to a lifetime of opportunity.

For more than 20 years, our proven programs have helped thousands of adults learn to read and improve their English language skills.  Since 2001, our Customized Workplace English Program has helped more than 40 companies and organizations improve the English language skills of its employees.  And our new Family Literacy Program is aimed at boosting literacy among at-risk individuals breaking the cycle of intergenerational illiteracy.

We also tailor literacy programs to meet the needs of specific audiences.  Learn how the Literacy Center can help someone you know today; just give us a call at 616.459.5151 or click here.
